Baccarat rules: Punto Banco step by step

Card values, naturals, the complete banker draw rule, main and pair bets. Examples and actual browser-edition settings.

Baccara and baccarat name the same game family. This guide explains Punto Banco: you select a betting position while additional cards follow fixed rules. Player and Banker name two table hands, not roles you control freely.

Only the last digit counts

Aces count one, twos through nines their face value, and tens and face cards zero. Add the cards and keep only the units digit. K–8 makes eight; 7–6 makes three, not thirteen. The higher final total wins, with nine the maximum. An initial two-card eight or nine is a natural and stops both hands drawing.

The complete drawing sequence in our edition

Without a natural, Player draws on zero through five and stands on six or seven. If Player stands, Banker draws on zero through five. If Player draws, the value of that third card combines with Banker’s existing total as shown below. Use the card’s value, not Player’s new total.

Player draws an eight and finishes on two. Banker stands on three: a Player third-card value of eight is the exception for Banker three.

Why one card controls Banker’s draw

Original example: Player starts with 2 and 2, totalling four. Banker has ace and 2, totalling three. Player draws an 8 and finishes on two. Banker stands on three because Player’s third card was an eight. Banker wins three to two. Player does not draw a fourth card.

Change only the drawn eight to a seven: Player now finishes on one. Banker must draw on three. This small comparison shows why “the lower hand draws” is not a valid substitute for the table.

Distinguish profit and returned stake

Our classic setting pays Player wins at 1:1 and Banker wins at 0.95:1 net after five percent commission. A tie returns Player and Banker stakes. The separate Tie bet pays 8:1 or 9:1 according to the setting. An 8:1 win means eight profit plus the original stake.

Optional pair bets concern the first two cards of a table hand having the same rank. Here they pay 11:1 net. A matching third card is not required. A pair does not determine whether that hand wins the main comparison; its wager is settled separately.

Actual browser settings

Choose six or eight decks, 1,000/2,000/5,000 starting chips, ten/twenty/fifty hands, tie at 8:1 or 9:1 and pair wagers on or off. Banker settlement offers five percent commission or banker-7: a winning three-card Banker total of seven returns only the Banker stake. Other Banker wins in that mode pay 1:1.

All chips are free, with no purchase, monetary value, cash-out or real prizes. Hand count limits our play session; it is not a general casino table rule. Sound, timer display and reduced motion change neither drawing nor scoring.
